Mountain Biking in Perthshire

There’s a lot of ground to cover in Perthshire for mountain bikers, and there are many intriguing and diverse areas to explore.

Widely regarded as one of Scotland’s best trail centres, Comrie Croft is an absolute must for MTB tourists. Visitors can hit the trails or take advantage of the centre’s skills park - just one minute’s ride from the trailhead.

Sculpted over spectacular hills, Dunkeld & Birnam’s hand-built technical trails are a rider’s paradise. The iconic routes have been used by the Scottish Downhill Association (SDA) for many years. However, there’s something for everyone here with an abundance of non-technical trails and classic Scottish MTB routes.

For those who prefer a bit of gravel mountain biking, the Highland Perthshire Cycling Community Group has set up a network of gravel routes that take riders through Dunkeld, Blair Atholl, Aberfeldy and Pitlochry.

Speaking of Pitlochry, this charming town is an ideal base for a Perthshire MTB holiday. With Ben Vrackie standing over 800m tall above the area, big mountain adventures are within easy reach, as well as some fun local trails and riverside rides for a more relaxing journey.

Perth itself is home to Kinnoull Hill Woodland Park. Scotland’s first official woodland park, visitors can enjoy some fantastic natural trails on both sides of the hill. It’s such an epic location that the UK’s most spectacular enduro, Fair City Enduro, keeps coming back every October.

Heading further north, MTB tourists will find Alyth - home to the first trails in Scotland constructed under community asset transfer - and Coupar Angus, a small town whose wood trails make for an excellent location for hosting national enduro events.
